Wireless-management switch - Wireless products

Communications News, August, 2003

Securely extend the enterprise network from wherever users want to connect. The Aruba 5000 is a modular WLAN switch that combines air-traffic management, active-user management, multilayer security and advanced wireless switching services into a single, centralized system. The system provides centralized control of the company's and other third-party access points through 24, 48 or 72 10/100-Mbps Ethernet ports, and up to six Gigabit Ethernet ports. An integrated hardware cryptography engine within the four-slot device supports up to four gigabits of encrypted throughput. The switch can be dropped into existing backbone and wiring closet deployments without requiring direct connection of access points or cumbersome reconfiguration to the existing wired network. A single switch deployed in the data center can support thousands of users and hundreds of access points.--Aruba Wireless Networks
