PoE adapter

Communications News,  August, 2005

The Power over Ethernet (PoE) Kit eliminates the need to place wireless access points near a power outlet or pay to install new power outlets to ensure optimum placement of the wireless connection. Especially suitable for growing small and medium-sized businesses, the PoE kit can be used for extending wireless networks to larger rooms, buildings and warehouses. The kit uses a CAT 5 Ethernet cable to carry both the data signals and electrical power, which allows access points to be placed up to 300 feet away from an electrical outlet. A PoE injector delivers power to the Ethernet cable, and a PoE splitter delivers power to the access point. No software, special cabling or installation of additional electrical sockets is required. Moreover, it is compatible with all wireless speeds supported by the associated access point.--US Robotics
