Communications News, Sept, 2001
FULLY REDUNDANT SYSTEM utilizes dual system controllers and dual power supplies for use in T-1, T-3, ISDN and frame relay applications. The ATLAS 890 allows users to converge large voice and data networks with assured system availability. The unit performs the functions found in multiplexers, channel banks, 1/0 and 3/1/0 cross-connects, frame relay access devices/concentrators /switches, IP routers, and ISDN switches, all in a fully redundant platform. It also includes an integral voice switchboard and dial plan to dynamically and intelligently switch voice/video and data calls based on the telephone number dialed. The ATLAS 890 supports multiple network interfaces, including T-1/FT1/DSX-1, E-1/PRA, ISDN, PRI/BRI, V.35 and 10/100Base-T Ethernet, and is designed for use in high-port density applications. With the modularity of ATLAS 890, users can support switched or multiplexed voice/data traffic over TDM or packetized networks.--ADTRAN
