Intelligent gigabit switch - Routers and switches - Nortel Networks BayStack 5510-48T - Brief Article

Communications News, Sept, 2003

To meet the requirements of enterprises implementing an adaptive network, the BayStack 5510-48T has the intelligence, resilience and performance to accommodate distributed applications. The switch has 48 ports, and provides Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and gigabit connectivity, with 32 times the throughput of its predecessor. In addition to traffic-management capabilities enabled with Layer 3 routing, the switch is able to find the quickest data path to end-users, making collaboration faster and more effective. The switch design automatically redirects all traffic around any box within a stack that is not performing properly. As many as eight units can be stacked to achieve up to 384 10/100/1000Mbps ports for high-density desktop switching.--Nortel Networks
