The airport at Ayres Rock in outback Australia is to receive a radio communication service that will provide pilots with information about air traffic movement during busy periods according to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
The announcement follows hot on the heels of suggestions by the former chairman of CASA that the airport was unsafe and also follows a trial of the system funded by Australian carriers Qantas and Ansett.
The new radio service will operate between 10am and 3pm commencing 1 December according to the Australian Associated Press.
