The British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has denied claims that regulations for controlling the transport of dangerous goods need tightening.

Speculation about the regulations has arisen after the crash of a Korean Air cargo aircraft near London-Stansted Airport, which is rumoured to have been carrying certain explosive substances.

A spokesperson for the CAA said `all sorts of dangerous goods are carried but they have to be carried in a very specific way....there are very tight regulations which are constantly under review and they are very effective.`

The spokesperson also stated that there had been no known incidence of a crash being caused in the UK due to problems with the carriage of dangerous goods.
