The discovery of a suspicious package on board a cargo aircraft operated by Channel Express for United Parcel Service caused security alerts at both the East Midlands International and Edinburgh Airports in the UK.

The package was discovered during unloading at East Midlands International Airport and was revealed to be harmless after a bomb disposal team conducted a controlled explosion.

However, despite the innocuous nature of the parcel, staff at the airport notified Edinburgh airport that there may be more suspicious parcels and emergency procedures and inspections of the aircraft, which had flown to the UK from Germany, were then carried out at Edinburgh airport, but no further packages were found.
