Delays in approving the construction of an international airport in Mpumalanga have resulted in a loss of foreign investment to the province according to Cobus Tomlinson, the Provincial Afrikaanse Handelsinstituut chair. Tomlinson said also that Mpumalanga had lost about R1m/day in foreign revenue because of the delay, the reason for which is unknown since two independent reports had separately recommended the siting of the airport at Primkop near Nelspruit rather than the apparent political favourite near Hazyview. The comments were made as Tomlinson addressed a provincial job summit in Badplaas during the weekend of 27- 28 November according to the African Eye News Service.
