-Continental Airlines sets precedent for US fare hike - Brief Article

Airline Industry Information, Oct 13, 1999

A price hike initiated by Continental Airlines has apparently been supported by other major carriers in the US. Despite this however, the future of the fare increase is still in doubt, with Northwest Airlines still holding out on increasing its prices for restricted leisure fares. The increase for business travel was less well supported than that for leisure fares and on 11 October United Airlines, US Airways and America West Airlines still had not increased their prices according to the Wall Street Journal.
