The Philippines' Air Transportation Office (ATO) has completed testing of its Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunications Network.

The end-to-end testing of the system was carried out in conjunction with the authority's counterpart in Hong Kong and includes certification of the ATO's mainframe computer, the Automatic Teletype Message Switching computer system. A spokesperson for the ATO said that later in October the Philippines will finish Y2K compliancy testing for the nation's international airports. The Philippines has also prepared contingency plans for any Y2K-related problems.
