-Canadian govt makes ruling on Canadian Airlines/Air Canada merger plans

The Canadian government has apparently ruled that the bid by Onex Corp to acquire and merge Canadian Airlines and Air Canada is subject to a full review by the Competition Bureau. In related news, Air Canada's pilots have announced that they will not seek to acquire an equity stake in their carrier as a counter bid to the Onex Corp proposal, but have requested that the Canadian government clarify its rules on airline ownership.
