SAS introduces SMS flight information service

Airline Industry Information, April 26, 2000

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

SAS has formed a partnership with Europolitan to become one of the first airlines to provide flight information to passengers via their mobile phones.

Customers can subscribe to the service and will have access to updated information about delays and cancellations to flights on which they are booked and information about new departure times and updates about any changes.

Passengers can either receive information by automatic messaging (where a message is sent to the mobile phone if any changes are made to the flight that is booked by the passenger) or by sending a question regarding their flight and receiving a text message reply within a few seconds.

Initially all SAS EuroBonus customers throughout the Nordic region will have access to the service.
