A man released from a prison in Pennsylvania on 7 February was arrested again on 9 February after he boarded a US Airways flight from Pittsburgh to Miami and attempted to leave the aircraft mid-flight.

The man was supposed to have been reporting to a halfway house in Harrisburg when he boarded the flight and became unruly. He apparently pushed one flight attendant, grabbed two passengers by the throat and tried to open an exit door while crying 'I want out` after consuming several drinks.

He was finally wrestled to the floor by several passengers and handcuffed in a rear seat.

Loftus has been charged with interfering with flight crew and assaulting a male passenger.
