Hartsfield Airport named world`s busiest airport - Brief Article - Statistical Data Included

Atlanta`s Hartsfield Airport has been named the world`s busiest airport according to figures for takeoffs and landings for 1999 released by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

According to the FAA, Atlanta surpassed Chicago`s O`Hare International Airport, which was previously the world`s busiest airport, and reported 909,840 takeoffs and landings in 1999 compared to Chicago`s 897,290.

Also in the top five are Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport with 867,338 flights, Los Angeles with 778,964 and Detroit with 559,548 flights.
