An EgyptAir pilot arrived in London last week seeking asylum in the UK and claiming to have important information about the crash of EgyptAir flight 990.

The US National Transportation Safety Board, which is conducting the investigation into the 31 October accident, has sent two staff to London to interview the pilot.

EgyptAir officials say that the man has no special information about the cause of the accident.

So far neither US investigators or Egyptian authorities have any idea about the cause themselves with speculation suggesting that an EgyptAir co-pilot deliberately brought the aircraft down, a theory strongly rejected by the Egyptians.
