Pratt & Whitney, a US jet-aircraft engine manufacturer, has indicated that it may make further job cuts due to a downturn in the global aviation market which may see the company`s delivery of large commercial and military engines fall to under 600 in 2000.

In previous years the company has delivered 800 (1998) and 670 (1999) engines and is expecting to deliver even less in 2001 and 2002, with projections of 500 in each of these years being made.

Pratt & Whitney expects to have cut some 3,500 jobs by the end of 2000.
