FAA proposes new airworthiness agreements - Brief Article
Airline Industry Information, Jan 10, 2000
AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has released a document that proposes to rescind an existing airworthiness directive (AD) that is applicable to all Cessna Model 750 Citation X series aircraft. This AD currently requires repetitive in-flight functional tests to verify the proper operation of the secondary horizontal stabiliser pitch trim system and repair if necessary. Since issuance of this AD an improved part has been developed, which, if installed, would terminate the need for repetitive testing. The part in question has either been installed on all affected aircraft or is being installed in production, hence the identified unsafe condition no longer exists. Comments are due by 22 February 2000.
The FAA has also released an amendment that supersedes an existing AD that is applicable to certain Boeing Model 747 series aircraft. The current AD requires repetitive inspections and tests of the thrust reverser control and indication system on each engine and corrective actions if necessary, as well as installation of a terminating modification and repetitive operational checks of that installation, and repair if necessary. This amendment identifies certain repetitive operational checks that were inadvertently omitted from the existing AD and revises certain procedures for accomplishment of the operational checks as well as certain follow-on corrective actions.
This document is effective 24 January 2000.
