SJ, the former Swedish railway monopoly, is to cooperate with SAS, the Scandinavian airline, on a railway route to Stockholm`s Arlanda airport.

The aim is to make it possible for passengers to check in at the SJ railway stations and to book the railway and air ticket at the same time. The railway ticket is set to cost an additional SEK45.

According to the timetable, SJ trains will stop 56 times at the Arlanda Central railway station at the airport each day. The aim is to shuttle passengers from the entire middle part of Sweden without competing with the new Arlanda Express train that traffics between Arlanda and Stockholm.

SJ has also said that the aim is to develop a similar cooperation on routes to Copenhagen`s Kastrup airport in Denmark when the Oresund bridge is opened later in the year.
