AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Swedish airline SAS is conducting trials of a new service enabling customers to make flight reservations via a WAP-based phone system.
As well as enabling customers to make bookings the service provides access to timetables and actual SAS flight arrival and departure times, plus the opportunity to check one's own EuroBonus points status.
The objective behind the development of WAP-based services at SAS is to make the carrier as accessible as possible; at the present time customers can already use interactive voice-response systems and the Internet in addition to the more traditional points of contact. In the future it is hoped to be able to offer information about delayed flights via the telephone.
