A New Zealand man has appeared in the Otahuhu District Court after breaching security at Auckland International Airport and driving along the runway while an international Qantas flight attempted to land.

The 19 January incident resulted in the captain of the Qantas Boeing 767 aircraft arriving from Sydney having to pull out of his descent after he noticed headlights on the runway. He was not able to land until the runway was cleared.

It is not yet unknown how the man breached airport security by passing through a security fence and authorities are now looking into the matter.
