A failure to uphold minimum workplace safety standards has led to work at the Harare International Airport being halted.

Work has also stopped at 13 other construction sites in the city after the Factories Inspectorate issued prohibition notices against the contractors for not complying with Works and Factories Act safety regulations.

The work at the USD5m new terminal is being managed by the Interbeton construction group of Germany and several local sub-contractors according to the Zimbabwe Standard.
