VARIG Brazilian Airline announces new commission structure - Brief Article

Following hot on the heels of travel agent commission reductions by US and UK carriers, VARIG Brazilian Airline has also announced a new commission structure.
Effective 21 January VARIG will reduce the commission rate for international tickets from 9% to 6% and from 10% to 7% for domestic flights.
A spokesperson for the carrier said `the travel agent system will remain our primary distribution network as it has been for over 70 years,` but that the airline has `taken these steps to control our costs to maintain a strong competitive position in the industry.`
