Pratt & Whitney, the US jet aircraft manufacturer, has said that it will be reducing its workforce by about 8.5% or 1,700 jobs by the end of 2000, with most job cuts to occur in Connecticut.
The new job cuts are in addition to 3,500 cuts announced since it began restructuring in 1998 and are the result of an expected decline in the number of engine deliveries over the next few years according to a company spokesperson.
