Meridiana put up for sale

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Meridiana, Italy`s largest private airline, has apparently been put up for sale and is looking to sell the 79% of the airline owned by Aga Khan, the airline`s founder.

Meridiana has a fleet of 21 aircraft and is based in Olbia on the island of Sardinia.

The carrier is apparently hoping to find a European partner and is also owned by the airline`s employees (16.6%), Cassa di Risparmio delle Provincie Lombarde (3.4%) and others (1%).
