Air rage at UK airports not on the increase shows study

Air rage statistics at UK airports for 1999 have apparently revealed that the problem is not increasing despite an overall rise in passenger numbers.
The figures from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) show that there were 100 arrests at UK airports of passengers flying in and out of the country on British aircraft in 1999.
However, police figures apparently contradict those of the CAA, with a reported 140 arrests having been made for flights into and out of London-Heathrow airport in 1999.
The discrepancy occurs because the police figures include all airlines, not just British ones, and the CAA figures only relate to people who have acted in a threatening manner or who had to be restrained.
