America West Airlines reduces flight schedule to improve service

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
America West Airlines has indicated that it will be reducing its flight schedule in order to decrease cancellations and improve on-time performance and reliability.
The company will restructure its line maintenance operations though increased staffing, part provisioning, automation and support. The schedule reduction from 880 to 663 flights will result in four aircraft becoming spares to substitute others that may not be available due to maintenance requirements, weather or traffic control according to a statement released by the airline.
