The South Australian carrier involved in a crash that killed eight people on 31 May has been grounded.

Whyalla Airlines was grounded by the Australian Civil Aviation Authority on 10 June following an audit of the carrier that resulted from the fatal accident. The airline had suspended its flight immediately following the crash but had been hoping to recommence services this week according to the Australian Associated Press.

The decision to ground Whyalla Airlines was made as about 5,000 people gathered in the town of Whyalla for a memorial service for the eight victims. Those present at the ceremony expressed support for the carrier and indicated that they hoped to see it operational again shortly.

Meanwhile, the wreckage of the Whyalla Airlines Piper Chieftain aircraft has been recovered by salvage crews and all but one body have also been recovered. The search for the remaining body will continue.
