A Russian airlines Tu-134 made an emergency landing in Syktyvkar, about 1,000 kilometres from Moscow, Russia on 26 June after a tyre burst during takeoff.

An air traffic controller apparently radioed the pilot after takeoff, saying that one of the aircraft`s ten wheels had fallen off. This turned out to be an exaggeration however, with the tyre in question only having burst, not fallen off.

The pilot was forced to circle over Syktyvkar airport for an hour and a half to burn fuel before completing an emergency landing. None of the 53 passengers were injured.

The incident will now be investigated by the Transport Service according to the Associated Press.
