While some names can be problematic to pronounce, others are easy to get out but cause problems of a very different kind.

Such was the case at a suburban Detroit airport when the simple greeting of 'Hi, Jack!' set security personal and police on red alert.

The greeting was made to a co-pilot onboard a corporate aircraft. However it was accidentally broadcast into the radio control tower by a microphone placed near the pilot. The tower heard 'hijack' and immediately alerted the Waterford police, who then called in extra staff, the Oakland Sheriff's Department SWAT team, the FBI and other federal authorities.

The aircraft was ordered to return to the tower while the pilot's identification was checked.

Police Chief John B told the Associated Press that he welcomed the false alarm since it was 'good for training purposes' and joked that no-one named Jack should be hired in aviation.
