China Airlines said it will operate passenger and cargo services in the mainland China market as soon as Taiwan's government lifts a ban on direct airlinks.
Airline President Sandy Liu said recently that it planned a joint venture with either Air China or China Eastern Airlines to operate a cargo business on the mainland, according to Reuters.
Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian said he would review the country's ban on direct trade, travel and postal links with China calling them 'outdated, rigid and inflexible.'
