A Continental Airlines MD-80 flight from Atlanta to Dallas was forced to make an emergency landing at Birmingham International Airport, USA on 1 October.
The emergency was apparently prompted by an electrical fire breaking out in the cockpit, which burned an off-duty pilot from the carrier`s regional airline, Continental Express.
A spokesperson for Birmingham airport rescue workers had not seen any fire or smoke when the aircraft landed and officials from the Federal Aviation Administration were expected to inspect the aircraft on 2 October according to Reuters.
None of the 147 passengers onboard were injured.
