Russian aircraft manufacturer, Tupelov Aircraft Design Bureau, has built a Tu-156 aircraft that uses cryogenic fuel.

The aircraft can apparently use liquid natural gas, and will be able, in the future, to use hydrogen according to the Bureau.

The aircraft will not be certified, but will be used to test cryogenic systems for the Tupelov Bureau`s most advanced aircraft, such as the Tu-206, Tu-336 and Tu-330C according to Itar-Tass.

The Tupelov Bureau and Germany`s Deutsche Airbus are also looking at using liquid hydrogen in models such as the Airbus A310 and the De-328.
