Sydney Airport hails busiest day as a success

Sydney airport`s handling of its busiest day in history passed successfully on 2 October.
It was expected that people in Sydney for the Olympic Games would exodus en masse, however a spokesperson for one Australian carrier, Ansett, stated that many people had called in to try to extend their stay. The airport was also having to deal with the end of school holidays in the state of New South Wales and a long weekend.
The airport did not report any major delays to domestic or international services and kept passengers waiting for their flights amused with live entertainment.

Some 100,000 passengers were expected to pass through both the domestic and international terminals with a record of 1,000 flights according to Reuters.
