Egypt is planning to build 20 new airports across the country over the next 30 years, according to the Egyptian Minister of Transport, Communications and Civil Aviation Ibrahim el-Demiri. The minister said that the process will help promote national development and create more job opportunities, Xinhua News Agency reported.
AirTran Airways, a US carrier, has exercised options on two Boeing 717 narrow-body aircraft, taking its 717 fleet to 30 aircraft. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2001 according to Reuters.
