AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Hawaiian Airlines announced on 4 April that it would be leasing three new Boeing 767-300ER wide-body jet aircraft from Ansett Worldwide Aviation Inc, a unit of the Morgan Stanley investment bank. The aircraft will be delivered in 4Q'2001 according to Reuters.
Commencing 1 May 2001, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, a Delta Connection carrier, will move its operations from the Legend Executive terminal to the Main terminal at Dallas Love Field airport, where it will use Gates 21 and 22.
American Trans Air Inc (ATA) has signed an agreement with Sabre Holdings Corporation for the provision of Sabre's 'Virtually There' web services through a link on ATA's web site (http://www.ata.com). Virtually There will allow ATA's customers to view or print their itineraries from the web site using a personal computer, digital assistant or web-enabled wireless phone.
A new company called XS Aviation Ltd was launched on 4 April, specialising in the acquisition and management of aircraft on behalf of aviation-specific investors. The company is a venture involving Curtis & Company (UK) Limited and Xavian Ltd. It currently manages a portfolio of nearly 20 aircraft previously managed by the two companies.
The international terminal at New Zealand's Auckland Airport is to receive a NZD20m upgrade that will expand the terminal's total floor space to 8,100m2, including an extra 2,550m2 of space for public and landside retail areas according to Xinhua News Agency. The expansion should be complete by November 2001 in time for the summer holiday season.
Delta Air Lines, a US carrier, has chosen PROS Revenue Management services to help with identifying and capitalising on revenue opportunities across its domestic and international network. An examination of the carrier's existing processes and resources has already been commenced involving a team of PROS revenue management professionals.
