Taiwan's air safety investigators expect to have a factual report on the 31 October 2000 crash of a Singapore Airlines aircraft ready in February.
A spokesperson for the Aviation Safety Council stated that analysis of the accident would begin on 1 March after the factual report is finalised. The report will be released on the council's web site at http://www.asc.gov.tw and will not contain conclusions about the crash, reported Reuters.
The Singapore Airlines Boeing 747-400 aircraft crashed after it attempted to take off from an out-of-use runway at Taiwan's Chiang Kai-shek International Airport during poor weather. The aircraft crashed into construction equipment located along the runway, resulting in 83 fatalities.
Singapore Airlines has accepted responsibility for the accident, but has also called for a review of facilities at the airport.
