GE Aircraft Engine Services, a US-owned aircraft engine manufacturer, has announced that it may be cutting some 250 jobs from its operations in Nantgarw, south Wales.
The company has blamed a sluggish aviation market for the job losses, PA News reported. The Nantgarw plant has some 1,400 workers and attempts will be made to downsize through voluntary redundancy before forced redundancy is implemented.
A spokesperson for the factory indicated that the figure of 250 represents a starting figure for negotiations, and suggested that the actual job losses could be lower.
