New board of directors at Thai Airways

Thai Airways International has appointed a new 14-member board of directors, that has pledged to transform the national carrier into the world's leading airline.
Prominent economist Virabongsa Ramangkura has been elected chairman of the board while Srisook Chandrangsu, permanent secretary of the Transport and Communication Ministry, was appointed first vice chairman. Finance Ministry permanent secretary Somchainuk Engtrakul was named second vice chairman and secretary of the new board.
The previous board resigned en masse on 6 September over internal problems at the carrier, which is owned 79% by the Finance Ministry, reported Kyodo News.
