US carrier Delta Air Lines is conducting an illegal campaign to discourage flight attendants from participating in a union vote, according to the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA).

The union, which is seeking to represent the airline's 20,000 flight attendants, has alleged that Delta Air Lines has, among other things, brought in police to harass union supporters and disciplined flight attendants who participate in union activities, Reuters reported.

The carrier has rejected the AFA's claims, stating that the company observes lawful guidelines governing what can take place on its premises.

The employees of Delta Air Lines are the least-unionised of the major US airlines.
