Lufthansa flight to Ethiopia diverted due to runway lights problem

A flight operated by the German carrier Lufthansa to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia was forced to divert to Cairo, Egypt last week after the pilot was informed that the runway lights at Bole International Airport were not working.

After landing in Cairo, the flight's 140 passengers were flown to Addis Ababa using a chartered aircraft. It has also been reported that two flights operated by Ethiopian Airlines were forced to change their destination due to the malfunctioning runway lights, according to the Addis Tribune.
