AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

The inauguration of the first phase of a new terminal at Cambodia's Phnom Penh Pochentong International Airport was conducted on 6 September. The terminal has cost about USD38m and can seat up to 160 passengers. It is expected to be completed in mid-2002.

Air Canada has introduced a new travel web site called destina.ca. The site is designed to offer one-stop travel shopping, reservation and destination information and is part of the Air Canada Action Plan.

Air Europa, a Spanish carrier. Has formed a new alliance with Aeropostal Alas de Venezuela for flights between Madrid and Caracas. The alliance is effective from 6 September 2001, El Nacional reported.

Societe Concessionaire De l'Aeroport, a French-led group that has been managing and upgrading Cambodia's main airport in Phnom Penh since 1995, has been awarded a 20-year contract to renovate and manage the airport in Siem Reap. The company will initially invest USD25m in the airport, which could increase up to USD50-80m according to The Associated Press.

Delta Air Lines, a US carrier, has been selected as a sponsor of the Second Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards that will take place on 11 September 2001 at the Great Western Forum in Los Angeles, USA.
