China Eastern Airlines orders Airbus A340-600 aircraft

China Eastern Airlines is planning to replace its MD-11 aircraft with Airbus A340-600 aircraft next year.
The airline has reportedly placed an order for five Airbus A340-600 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled to begin next year. The A340-600, powered by four Rolls-Royce Trent 500 engines, can carry 380 passengers up to 13,900 kilometres in a typical three-class layout.
The new aircraft will be used to serve long-haul routes to Europe, Australia and other parts of the world except North America, reported Xinhua News Agency.
