The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) has announced a construction plan for Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat airport international terminal.

The project will reportedly cost USD219m, of which USD190m will be funded from a Japanese special ODA loan. The remainder of the funding will be supplied by the Vietnamese government. According to the CAAV's deputy director general, the project will be inaugurated by early next year and finished by 2006. The new terminal is expected to handle 7-8m passengers per year.

Hanoi's Noi Bai airport, which also has a new terminal under construction, has just completed the first stage of the project which will enable the terminal to handle 6m passengers, reported the Vietnam Investment Review.
