Mock air crash exercise staged in India

Aviation and airport authorities in New Delhi, India staged a mock air crash exercise on Monday (22 April), to test the agencies that handle such emergencies.

The Airports Authority of India and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, which have carried out similar exercises in the past, sent radio messages to security personnel that stated that an aircraft carrying 64 passengers had crashed.

According to officials, police and paramilitary troops took up positions at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, while fire engines, ambulances and rescue teams attended the pretend crash site, reported The Associated Press.
