A Loganair aircraft flying from Edinburgh to Sumburgh in the Shetland Islands, Scotland was forced to make an emergency landing yesterday (3 April) after developing an engine problem.

The aircraft - a Saab 340, carrying 30 passengers and crew members - developed a fault in its port engine causing the engine to shut down. The incident occurred as the aircraft entered Kirkwall airport's airspace. However due to strong crosswinds at that airport, the flight was forced to divert to Wick airport in northern Scotland.

Emergency services were on stand-by at Wick airport, but the aircraft landed safely and no injures resulted from the incident, reported PA News.
