JetBlue Airways has reportedly received approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration to fit its aircraft with surveillance cameras.
The move will enable pilots to monitor passenger activity while remaining in the cockpit to control the aircraft. According to the airline's CEO, there will be up to four cameras concealed in the cabin, providing the pilots with visual images of all angles. The airline will begin the installation of the systems next week and intends to complete the project this summer.
Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and other carriers are also expected to install similar equipment, according to the Wall Street Journal.
