Aircraft makes second emergency landing in a week

A British Airways CitiExpress aircraft made an emergency landing on Saturday (24 August) after a warning light came on.

The turbo-prop aircraft was carrying two flight crew and two cabin crew from Glasgow International Airport to Edinburgh, Scotland, from where it was due to make a scheduled flight to Birmingham, England according to PA News.

The captain returned to Glasgow shortly after takeoff when he noticed an overheating warning light come on in the cockpit.

The same aircraft made an emergency landing at Scotland's Prestwick Airport on 20 August while on a flight from Glasgow to Belfast City Airport with 39 passengers on board.

Following that incident the aircraft underwent safety checks. A British Airways spokesman has said that investigators would look at whether there was a link between the two problems.
