Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways is expected to decide within six to eight months whether to purchase a number of 555-seat Airbus A380 aircraft.

The European manufacturer's double-decker A380 aircraft is scheduled to enter service in 2006, and Airbus has already received about 97 orders from nine customers worldwide. However, Cathay Pacific has yet to make a decision on whether to buy or lease the new aircraft.

The airline will receive three new Airbus A340-600 long range aircraft later this year, reported Reuters
