A group of 230 air travellers who claim that they or their relatives suffered from deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after long haul flights are to sue for compensation from British Airways.

The group, who claim that the combination of cramped flying conditions and long hours in the air gave them or their relatives DVT, have asked a High Court judge to allow their claims to be linked together in a class-action suit, thought to be the first of its kind.

The hearing will reportedly centre on a claim by Briton Lyn Walcott, whose husband died after a flight to Barbados in 2000. The group plans to sue other airlines as well, reported Reuters.
