Aer Lingus pilots cancel strike

Pilots at Aer Lingus have called off plans for a one-day strike after the airline agreed to withdraw layoff notices to ten junior pilots.
The pilots had voted overwhelmingly last week for a one-day strike on 11 February, in a move to protest the airline's plans to lay off 80 pilots. An agreement has now been reached which gives pilots until 15 February to accept voluntary severance packages, and ensures that the airline does not make any more compulsory layoffs. An arbitrator has also been put into place to oversee the process, reported The Associated Press.
